The London Infection Network for ECRs (LINE) presents a new seminar series - LINE+, where invited speakers talk about their science and more! Recognising science does not happen in a vacuum, we are keen to tackle how different researchers approach and marry their science with their ethical values and personal experience.

Dr. Nathan J. Day (20th May 2026)

How deep is your learning? Interactive data science with big data visualisation and fast-growing Mtb

We welcome Dr Nathan J. Day, a Postdoctoral Fellow at The Francis Crick Institute. Nathan utilises high-resolution microscopy and machine learning to understand how Mycobacterium tuberculosis persists within human cells. His work focuses on building automated pipelines for image analysis, but his interests extend far beyond the code: he is a proponent of interactive data science and finding ways to make "big data" visually accessible and engaging to the public.

As usual, the talk will be followed by some pizza and drinks!

Dr. Suzanne Faure-Dupuy (18th February 2026)

Interactions matter: from virus-macrophage biology to communication and inclusion

We welcomed Dr. Suzanne Faure-Dupuy, researcher at the Institut Cochin (Paris, France), where she passionately studies how small viruses (HBV, HRV, YFV) manipulate macrophages to drive infection and disease. She is also the co-founder of the science popularization channel ‘Du neuf docteur’ (French science popularization channel, 'what's up doc'), Recipient of the 2023 L’Oréal-UNESCO Young Talents France Prize for Women in Science and Co-organizer of the Paris Postdoc Seminar Series, amongst other things...!
